On Wednesday, November 10, 2021 the state health department's Office of Health Care Access (OHCA) will hold a virtual hearing to decide the fate of the Windham Community Memorial Hospital (WCMH) maternity ward.

In mid-2020 Hartford HealthCare made the decision to close the maternity ward at WCMH without letting the community know. Now residents must go to Norwich, Manchester or Hartford. This puts the women and their babies at risk.

This virtual hearing will allow caregivers, residents, and recipients of services to weigh-in. This step in the regulatory agency's Certificate of Need (CON) process is a critically important opportunity to determine the fate of the community's hospital.
